OpenCredits — open-source credits for XenForo 2.3+

A free (MIT) credits system for XenForo 2.3+. Reward activity, show balances,
let members transfer and redeem credits, and gate trophies on wealth.

Highlights

• Earn on activity — threads, replies, reactions, registrations and daily visits, with amounts, daily caps, and forum/group scoping.
• Multiple currencies — a primary currency plus per-currency visibility.
• Wallet everywhere — postbit, account menu, profiles, and paged history; your own profile also has a transfer shortcut.
• Transfers & redeem codes — member-to-member transfers that never overdraw, plus single/multi-use coupon codes.
• Leaderboard — a placeable "Top credit holders" widget with a configurable count and currency, optionally visible to guests.
• Alerts & trophies — optional alerts when credits land, and "has at least / fewer than X credits" criteria for trophies, notices, and promotions.

For admins

• Manage currencies, earning events, codes, and members from AdminCP → Credits (gated by the Manage credits admin permission; super admins always have it).
• Tools to adjust balances, rebuild from the ledger, backfill pre-install content, and prune old history into snapshots.
• Display toggles (postbit, menu, profile) and a configurable daily boundary (UTC, board time, or a fixed offset).
• Spend/award API and an oc_credits_adjust event — see docs/API.md on GitHub.

Defaults: thread $5, reply $1, reaction $2, registration $10, daily visit $5 — change anytime in AdminCP → Credits.

Requirements

XenForo 2.3.0+, PHP 8.2+, MySQL 8.0+. No other add-ons required.

Install

Use the Download button at the top of this page to grab the latest release zip, then pick one:

• From AdminCP — Add-ons → Install from archive, upload the zip, click Install.
• Manual — unzip it and upload the contents of upload/ into your forum root, then AdminCP → Add-ons → OpenCredits → Install.

Then allow View own credit wallet and history and Transfer credits to other users for Registered (and any other groups) on the Credits permission tab. Members start earning on their next post/reaction/visit.

To upgrade later: upload the newer zip and click Upgrade on the add-on.

Troubleshooting

• Wrong balances? — AdminCP → Credits → Rebuild balances (or CLI: php cmd.php oc-credits:rebuild).
• Permission errors? — check the Credits permission tab per group (fresh installs auto-allow Registered).
• Uninstalling wipes data — balances, ledger, events, currencies, codes, and snapshots.
