[MrX] Visible User Groups is a XenForo 2.3 add-on that lets members choose which of their owned user group banners are displayed publicly across the forum.
Instead of showing every banner attached to a user account automatically, this add-on adds an account setting where users can decide which eligible banners should remain public and which ones should be hidden.
This is useful for communities where members may have multiple ranks, donor groups, premium groups, legacy groups, event groups, or other custom user group banners, but do not always want every banner shown on their profile or posts.
Instead, it works as a visibility layer on top of XenForo’s existing user group/banner system.
In simple terms:
From there, users can toggle eligible group banners on or off and save their preferred public display settings.
The page includes visible, hidden, optional, and locked states so members can clearly see which banners are public and which ones are controlled by admin rules.
Admins can enter comma-separated XenForo user group IDs that users are never allowed to hide. If a user belongs to one of those groups, that group remains visible automatically.
This is useful for staff groups, moderation groups, warning groups, or any other group that should always remain publicly visible.
If a banner still appears in a custom style, custom template, or third-party add-on location, that area may need to be updated to respect the visibility logic.

How It Works
This add-on does not remove user groups from a member’s account. It does not alter permissions, access checks, promotions, upgrades, or assigned user groups.Instead, it works as a visibility layer on top of XenForo’s existing user group/banner system.
In simple terms:
- The user keeps their assigned user groups normally.
- XenForo permissions continue working normally.
- The add-on stores which group banners the user wants publicly visible.
- Public banner rendering checks the saved visibility preference.
- Groups marked as mandatory by the admin remain visible automatically.
User-Facing Page
The add-on adds a new account settings page:
Code:
/account/visible-groups
From there, users can toggle eligible group banners on or off and save their preferred public display settings.
The page includes visible, hidden, optional, and locked states so members can clearly see which banners are public and which ones are controlled by admin rules.
Admin Option
The add-on includes an admin option for mandatory visible user group IDs.Admins can enter comma-separated XenForo user group IDs that users are never allowed to hide. If a user belongs to one of those groups, that group remains visible automatically.
This is useful for staff groups, moderation groups, warning groups, or any other group that should always remain publicly visible.
Compatibility
This add-on requires:- XenForo 2.3.0+
Installation
- Upload the contents of the upload/src folder to your XenForo installation.
- Install the add-on from the XenForo Admin Control Panel.
- Configure mandatory visible group IDs if needed.
- Users can then manage their visible groups from their account settings.
Notes
This add-on is intended to control public display only. It should not be used as a permission system and does not replace XenForo’s native user group or permission handling. If a banner still appears in a custom style, custom template, or third-party add-on location, that area may need to be updated to respect the visibility logic.
Support
Please report any issues with details about where the banner is still appearing, which user group is affected, and whether the issue happens on posts, profiles, member cards, hover cards, or another display location.Télécharger V1.0.5 :
