Add a permission setting to control who can hide signatures - intended to be used with account upgrades so that you can restrict which user groups can hide user signatures.
This permission over-rides the user preference and always shows signatures on posts and media comments they view, unless the "Can hide signatures" permission is set to "Yes".
To prevent confusion, there is also an option which can be set to add a hint to the " Show people's signatures with their messages" checkbox explaining under what circumstances it actually works. We show a hint rather than hiding the option completely, to act as an upsell opportunity.
For example :
Shows on the user preferences page like this :
Télécharger V1.1.0 Bêta 1:
Version 1.1.1 - minor UI update :
- Code cleanup + minor UI update to "disable" the option to hide signatures if the user doesn't have permission to do so.
Télécharger V1.1.1 :
Version 1.1.2 (2025-12-11)
- run
Version 1.1.3 (2026-09-28)

- Guests follow the "Show signatures to guests" option again. Guests do not have the "Can hide signatures" permission by default, so they were shown signatures regardless of that option.
- A restricted member's own signature preference is no longer overwritten. Saving account preferences stored "hidden" in its place, and some other account changes stored "shown", so a member later granted the permission — or on a forum that uninstalled the add-on — could find the setting changed. Preferences already overwritten by an earlier version cannot be restored.
- "Can hide signatures" is now listed under Signature permissions, after "Edit signature". Existing permission settings are unchanged.
- Declares that the add-on stores no secrets, by answering the
hampel_admin_api_redactioncode event. A forum running an admin API add-on that reports settings with secrets removed can then show the hint text. Nothing changes on a forum without one.
